New trail to be built in Bellingham neighborhood this summer

BELLINGHAM - A footpath east of Mahogany Avenue in Cordata neighborhood will be improved this summer and added to the city's official trail system.

The city plans to request bids in January for the 500-foot extension of Division Street Trail, a project estimated to cost $200,000. The improvement is funded by park impact fees paid by developers.

The work will begin by July, pending approval of federal and city permits, said city landscape architect Jonathan Schilk. The path will be covered with a surface of crushed limestone six feet wide.
