The Austin Katayama Foundation will stage a silent auction this month in support of efforts to spread information about suicide.

Katayama, 18, a senior at Richland High School, died Oct. 15 after jumping from a Benton County grain elevator.

The auction will be from 3 to 7 p.m., Jan. 17 and from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Kennewick Library, 1620 S. Union St.

Those looking to provide auction items should contact Jackie at 572-5871 or jackie@austinkatayama foundation.com or Wendy at 551-8979.

The group also plans to sell $2 wristbands that read "RIP Austin Katayama. Promote Suicide Awareness," and include the crisis response phone number.
