The Bellingham boys' basketball team faced an early double-digit deficit and never recovered as it lost to Edmonds-Woodway 71-57 in the Cloud 9 Sports Lynden Christmas Classic on Thursday, Dec. 29, at Lynden Christian High School for its eighth straight loss.
The Red Raiders fell behind 22-10 after the first quarter and trailed by 18 points at halftime.
Alex Check led Bellingham with 20 points, while Derek Guy and Blake Zender each scored eight.
Grant Pattison led Edmonds-Woodway with 17 points.
It was the final game of the tournament for both teams as Bellingham returns to Northwest Conference action. The Red Raiders (1-8, 0-2 NWC) will have to upset some of the conference's top teams if it hopes to end its losing skid anytime soon. It travels to Lynden (7-1, 2-0) next at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, followed by Squalicum (7-0, 2-0) after that.
