MAPLE FALLS - A Maple Falls man who was recently hired as a mechanic for Mount Baker High School has been accused of sexually violating a girl several years ago, when she was younger than 13 years old.
Nicholas David Woodin, 25, was charged last week with sexually touching the girl, whom he knew, while she was asleep on the couch at his house, according to an affidavit filed in Whatcom County Superior Court.
He signed a statement Dec. 22 admitting that on one occasion in October 2008 he penetrated the girl with his finger while she slept, according to the affidavit. The girl told deputies she was violated more than once.
When Woodin was interviewed by deputies last week, he "expressed repeatedly that he felt guilty because of her age and the fact that it constituted cheating on his girlfriend," the affidavit says.
On his Facebook page, Woodin states he has been employed as an assistant mechanic for Mount Baker High School since December 2010.
School district officials could not be reached for comment Wednesday afternoon.
Woodin was booked into Whatcom County Jail Dec. 20 on investigation of second-degree child rape.
