The Nooksack Salmon Enhancement Association, a nonprofit habitat restoration group, will accept donations of living Christmas trees after the holiday.

Take living trees to the association's office, 2445 E. Bakerview Road, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday from Dec. 26 to Jan. 6. The office also will accept trees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7.

The association will plant the trees along streamsides in Whatcom County to improve salmon habitat.

Living Christmas trees are increasing in popularity, the release said. They come with root balls intact and are often potted.
