POINT ROBERTS - A man who allegedly threatened Customs and Border Protection officers and threatened to set fire to a Border Patrol vehicle was arrested early Wednesday morning, Dec. 21, according to the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office.

At about 4:30 a.m., Customs officers on Point Roberts called for assistance, after a man threatened to harm officers inside the building and the vehicle parked nearby.

Sheriff's deputies who responded knew the man and believed that his threats were credible.

During their investigation, the deputies went to the man's house in the 300 block of Windsor Drive. His mother refused to cooperate with deputies, and as they were figuring out how to proceed, the man came out through a side door. He confronted the deputies, and when they tried arrest him, he allegedly resisted and assaulted two deputies before being taken into custody.

Brandon Gibbs, 19, was booked into Whatcom County Jail for investigation into two counts of felony harassment and two counts of third-degree assault of an officer.
