Five players from the Whatcom Community College men's basketball team scored in double-figures as the Orcas went on to beat Grays Harbor 92-54 at the Centralia Crossover Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 17.
Coming off a loss to Spokane the day before, Whatcom responded in a big way by holding Grays Harbor to just 54 points.
"We came out real flat yesterday and today we were more focused," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "We put the emphasis on the defensive end and that (keyed) the offense."
Evan Coulter led all scorers with 16 points, Will Perry had 15 points and 14 rebounds and Patrick Voeut added 13.
Whatcom shot 52 percent from the field and held Grays Harbor to 26 percent. The Orcas surrendered 81 points the previous day to Spokane in its 81-71 loss.
Whatcom plays again in the Centralia tournament at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 18.
