Erika Locker and Cambie Edwards each scored 17 points and the Whatcom Community College women's basketball team survived Lower Columbia 64-63 in the Clark Crossover Tournament on Saturday, Dec. 17.

Locker also collected nine rebounds as part of the Orcas 43-29 rebounding advantage over Lower Columbia. It was a product of Whatcom's stingy defense, which held Lower Columbia to 33 percent shooting.

"I think in the first half we got into foul trouble and that kind of hindered us there," Whatcom coach Sara Bergner said in a phone interview. "In the second half we showed good discipline. Overall we're happy to get a win down here."

Whatcom lost the previous day in the tournament against Umpqua. The Orcas improved to 3-3 overall with the victory Saturday.

Allie Holterman had 14 points for Whatcom, while Kariah Kussman and Alisha Friberg each scored seven.
