MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Turnovers plague Orcas against Spokane

The Whatcom Community College men's basketball team struggled from the 3-point line and committed costly turnovers as it fell 81-71 against the Community Colleges of Spokane on Friday, Dec. 16, at the Centralia Crossover Tournament.

Patrick Voeut scored 10 points and made one 3-pointer, which was the Orcas' only make from behind the arch. Spokane made seven 3-pointers while also forcing 25 turnovers.

"We played really tight tonight and tentative," Whatcom coach Chris Scrimsher said in a phone interview. "Because of it we turned the ball over."

Scrimsher said Spokane scored 33 points off turnovers.

Marcus Bagnerise led the Orcas (5-2) with 13 points and 13 rebounds. Derek Dickerson had 12 points and three assists.
