Bellingham choreographer and dancer Pam Kuntz, who frequently joins community members and professional dancers to create performances that explore a theme - such as motherhood, body image or aging - is creating a new work in response to the Lesley Dill exhibit at Whatcom Museum's Lightcatcher building, focusing on the piece "Shimmer."
Here's what Pam says: "After sitting in the gallery with this sculpture for a few hours I could only see many bodies ... like 50 bodies ... in this dance! In an effort to be more reasonable I am hoping to have at least 15. I am looking for community members who would like to be in a dance piece. This time around we will be exploring Dill's work and specifically language - a big topic best explained in person as it is plenty messy."
The time commitment, she says, would be roughly 10 hours of rehearsal followed by three performances. Rehearsals, beginning Jan. 2, will probably be Mondays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., as well as on other days of the week before noon and possibly some evenings. That will depend on folks' schedules, Kuntz says.
Performances will be 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Feb. 24-25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb 26, at the Lightcatcher.

CLASS TEACHES BASICS OF BEING IN A ROCK BAND
Rock 1Ö1 is a new six-week class for aspiring rockers age 11 to 18, sponsored by WellSpring Community School.
The course will utilize Mark Heimer of No-Fi Soul Rebellion and Sean Meyers of Scary Monster & the Super Creeps and Devotion - who have more than 30 years of combined experience as professional musicians - to teach students the ins and outs of playing in a band, writing and recording music, and getting their music out into the world.
Rock 1Ö1 will teach students through a project-based curriculum with four goals: to form a band and learn a set list, to record a demo, to make a music video, and to book, promote and play a live show.
Students will learn how to play in a band; organize a practice session; compose, arrange and record a song; write lyrics; design and create promotional materials for their band; create an online presence for their band using social media and other online resources; book and promote a show; and storyboard, shoot and edit a music video.
The class is for anyone in that age range who is interested in being a professional musician or playing in a band, whether the student is a beginning musician or has been playing for years.
The first session begins the second week of January. Space is limited; to begin registration, email rock101bellingham@gmail.com, or visit http://rock101.bandcamp.com/ and download the informational podcast that includes a registration form.
