Amber Stokes scored 19 points and added 11 rebounds as the Lynden girls' basketball team handed Squalicum its fifth straight loss with a 57-54 non-conference victory on Friday, Dec. 9.
Lynden built a 10-point lead entering the fourth quarter and shut the door on any chance of a Squalicum rally by outscoring the Storm 19-6 the final quarter.
Jessica Greene led Squalicum (0-5) with 13 points, nine from the 3-point line, and Janna Poradun had 11 points and nine rebounds.
"I was really proud of my team," Squalicum coach Mark Wright said in a phone interview. "We hung with a really good Lynden team for quite a while. We just got overwhelmed in the fourth quarter."
Kelsey Bouwman, Stephanie Somers and Mandy Warner each scored eight points for Lynden (3-1).
Squalicum faces Sehome its next game at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, on its home floor, while Lynden hosts Ferndale at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 15.
