Sales from Black Friday this year have totaled $11.4 billion at retail stores and malls.
It was crazy to witness people waiting outside in the freezing cold up to three days before stores opened. It was also interesting to then consider how many people were skipping Thanksgiving with their families to stand out alongside buildings.
However, the majority of those shoppers waiting in line were probably Canadians who celebrate their Thanksgiving about a month earlier. Bellis Fair is only 20 minutes away from the Canadian border, so people from that country take the opportunity and make themselves a part of Black Friday. It is quite frustrating to see that they have taken over the lines and deals of such an event.
I feel as though there should definitely be limits on how much people are allowed to purchase from stores and how far in advance they can stand in line if they are from over the border.
Although people of Canada do help contribute to sales in our state, it does not seem legitimate that they should be permitted to have an advantage over those of us who live in this country.
