Shame on Mayor Bromley of Sumas, speaking to The Bellingham Herald as if he had done his due diligence in representing the voice of the people. We the people are not quietly accepting of a restaurant using sex to sell food. Although the theme of Bikini Island may be legal, the repercussions of the breakdown of the family are notable.
Forty million men in the U.S. are addicted to pornography; 90 percent of boys 8-16 have viewed it online. I believe Bikini Island is an obvious precursor entering the mainstream of our community.
In a world where women and little girls are being ruined in sex trafficking, I believe Mayor Bromley's actions say, "We approve. We'll not fight it. We'll join the cause." Shame on you, mayor.
We the people did not want to serve the goggling eyes of unclean men by offering them the precious innocent young women of our homes. I believe our elected official represented us falsely to Whatcom County.
In the moral interest of each and every boy, girl, man, and woman who lives in our community of Sumas, and our friends from the north who drive back and forth, I request that the concept of this restaurant be shut down immediately.
