The Bellingham boys' basketball team saw five of its players score in double figures as it defeated host Lakewood 69-49 in a non-conference game on Tuesday, Nov. 29.
Bellingham's Nick Zeegers led all scorers with 14 points, nine off 3-pointers, and Derek Guy added 13.
The Red Raiders pulled away in the second quarter, outscoring Lakewood 20-8. It gave Bellingham a 35-19 halftime lead. All this was despite Marcus Reynolds sitting out after hurting his wrist in the pregame warmups, Bellingham coach Ken Crawford said in a phone interview.
"Reynolds was supposed to start so right at the beginning of the ball game we had to make some shifts," Crawford said. "They responded well though. I like to see that balance of scoring."
Alex Check recorded 11 points for the Red Raiders, while Kyle Redmond and Blake Zender each had 10.
Bellingham travels to Ferndale next at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.
