Many Whatcom County offices, services closed Black Friday

Most government offices and many businesses will remain closed Friday, Nov. 25, as part of a long Thanksgiving weekend.

Many businesses will be open, but some small stores will stay closed. Call ahead to check if you're unsure. Hours also vary many places because of Black Friday sales or special events.

Below is the status of some businesses and services for Friday.

OFFICES, SCHOOLS, SERVICES

Whatcom County offices: closed.

Bellingham city offices: closed.

Bellingham parking meters: not enforced.

Whatcom County Library system and bookmobile: closed.

Bellingham Public Library: closed.

Banks: open Friday.

U.S. Postal Service: regular service.

Garbage: regular pickup for SSC and Nooksack Valley Disposal customers.

Whatcom Transportation Authority: regular schedule.

The Bellingham Herald: offices open; if you didn't get your paper or for other customer service questions, call 360-676-2660 from 6 to 9 a.m. Friday.

Opportunity Council: closed.

Boys & Girls Clubs: closed.

State liquor stores: open.

SCHOOLS

Public schools: closed.

Whatcom Community College: closed.

Western Washington University: closed.

Bellingham Techinical College: closed.

ENTERTAINMENT

Movie theaters: open.

Blockbuster: open.

Crazy Mike's Video: open.

Film is Truth: open.
