BELLINGHAM - A man accused of beating his father unconscious in a south Bellingham homeless camp was arrested without incident Tuesday evening, Nov. 15, at an apartment complex on the opposite end of town.

Anthony Joseph Cahoon, 24, is suspected of attacking his 53-year-old father at 7 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area near the 100 block of Chuckanut Drive, said Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young. When police arrived at the camp, Cahoon had left and his father was unconscious.

He was still in critical condition at St. Joseph hospital the following day, Young said. No further update on his condition was made available by the hospital.

Over the next two days, police developed leads and were able to track Cahoon to an apartment in the 3600 block of Bennett Drive.

He was arrested at 6 p.m. Tuesday on investigation of first-degree assault and violation of a no-contact order.
