About a dozen members of the South Sound Fly Fishers showed up at the Nisqually River near Lacey to, as Tom McDonough of Tacoma put it, "be a good steward of the river."

The South Sound Fly Fishers organized the volunteer cleanup event which involved removing fishing line, old fishing tackle, hooks, lead weights, beer cans and other trash along the banks near the state Department of Fish and Wildlife handicap access point.
