LETTER: Backs Jorgensen for port reelection

For the past eight years, I believe port Commissioner Jim Jorgensen has served his constituents well.

Those of us who live in north Whatcom County know full well what the Port of Bellingham has been able to accomplish for our communities during Jim's tenure.

His focus on economic development and job production and his continued support for making additional port funds available for small cities have been, and will continue to be, of benefit to all of us.

I have known Jim personally for 12 years and have always been impressed by his integrity and his ability to listen carefully to all sides of an issue before forming an opinion or taking a position.

That's the kind of leadership and representation we want on the port: a man who listens carefully, is eager to learn, studies the details, and is energized by the possibility of making life better for all of the residents of Whatcom County.

I believe Jim Jorgensen's level-headed approach has been a valuable asset to the Port of Bellingham for the past eight years. Let's send him back for four more.
