The Western Washington University women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four games, as the Vikings blanked Western Oregon University 3-0 on senior day Saturday, Oct. 29, at Orca Field.
The Vikings received goals from Brina Sych, Kristen Maris and Megan Chapin.
Sych opened the scoring in the 35th minute with a goal from 12 yards out off a pass from Western's Emily Warman.
"It makes a big difference when we can score first, and in the first half," Viking coach Travis Connell said in press release. "It totally changes the game."
Four minutes into the second half, Maris blasted a shot into the upper right corner of the net to give Western a 2-0 advantage.
Chapin rounded out the Vikings' scoring, as she redirected a low cross from Western's Anna Geldenhuys in the final minute of play.
"Our defense is playing well, and Maris is getting on a roll with scoring goals," Connell said.
The Vikings are now 3-0-1 in their last four matches.
Western ends its season against Simon Fraser 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, at Simon Fraser University.
