  BELLINGHAM - A 24-year-old man was beaten and robbed Friday morning, Aug. 26, after another man approached him asking for a cigarette, but then started throwing punches, police said.

  The victim, a Whatcom County man who was visiting a friend in the 2100 block of Electric Avenue, stepped outside at about 9 a.m. to smoke a cigarette, said Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young. A man then approached him and asked for one of his cigarettes and a light.

  When the man got close enough, he started punching the victim, Young said. He then took cash and a pack of cigarettes from the victim.

  BELLINGHAM - A man accused of beating his father unconscious in a south Bellingham homeless camp was arrested without incident Tuesday evening, Nov. 15, at an apartment complex on the opposite end of town.

  Anthony Joseph Cahoon, 24, is suspected of attacking his 53-year-old father at 7 p.m. Saturday in a wooded area near the 100 block of Chuckanut Drive, said Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young. When police arrived at the camp, Cahoon had left and his father was unconscious.

  He was still in critical condition at St. Joseph hospital the following day, Young said. No further update on his condition was made available by the hospital.

  A 19-year-old Bellingham man turned himself in Friday, Feb. 10, after allegedly punching another man at a house party last month, sending the victim to the hospital.

  Mitchell Joseph Farley showed up uninvited at a party at an apartment in the 3000 block of Taylor Avenue with about eight others on Jan. 27, said Bellingham Police spokesman Mark Young.

  Several people at the party began arguing and it quickly turned into a fight, Young said.

  A 24-year-old Kennewick man was arrested early Monday morning for allegedly stabbing another man in the stomach.

  Alexander W. Edwards is under investigation for first-degree assault and in custody at the Benton County jail, according to a news release from the Kennewick Police Department.

  Victim Stephen M. Theofelif, 22, did not suffer life-threatening injuries and is expected to make a full recovery, said police.
