BELLINGHAM - Two Bellingham teens were arrested after a car and foot chase that began in the parking lot at Civic Field Saturday night, Oct. 22.

Bellingham police officers were in the parking lot about 8 p.m. when they heard tires screeching and an engine revving and saw a Nissan Maxima being driven erratically through the lot, police spokesman Mark Young said.

The car sped up after officers turned on their lights, and the officers saw someone in the car throw a beer can out the window. With lights and sirens on, they pursued the car, which ran a stop light at Puget Street and Lakeway Drive and turned onto Pacific Street.

The car stopped in a random driveway and two men got out and ran. Officers caught them after a short chase.

The driver, Wilfred McLean, 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempting to elude, driving under the influence and obstructing. His passenger, Bryce Howard-Cook, 18, was arrested on suspicion of minor in possession and obstructing.
