Karst Brandsma, former deputy superintendent for the Bellingham School District, will be the interim superintendent of the Mount Baker School District for the rest of the 2011-12 school year.
The Mount Baker School Board appointed Brandsma to the post at a meeting Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 18. Brandmsa is replacing Richard Gantman, who resigned from the district at the beginning of October to write a book and work as a business consultant.
For the past few years, Brandsma has been working in temporary positions, serving as an administrator in districts that suddenly need an administrator and turn to the Northwest Educational Service District for assistance.
