The Lynden Pioneer Museum is offering its annual open house, featuring free admission and special attractions, from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13.
Museum interpreters will be dressed in period costumes, and there will be historical demonstrations such as old-fashioned parlor games throughout the museum. Many of the dioramas in the 1900s-era Main Street exhibit will be open to walk through, something that happens just once a year.
The museum's exhibits include a life-size replica of turn-of-the-century downtown Lynden with shops, stores and offices; a farmhouse circa 1900; and more than 60 horse-drawn buggies, cars and tractors. In addition, visitors can see the "Flying Spokes" collection of vintage bicycles.
The museum is at 217 Front St. near Third Street downtown. Regular admission is $7 for adults; $4 for seniors and students; free for children 6 and younger. Normal operating hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
