Peninsula College's counter attacks continuously hurt Whatcom Community College men's soccer team Saturday, Oct. 1, as the Orcas lost 5-0 on the campus of Peninsula College.

"We came out all right and we knocked the ball around well, but (Peninsula) really had some great counter attacks they were able to get on us early on," Whatcom coach Joel Grossman said.

Several scoring opportunities were presented to the Orcas early, but Whatcom was unable to convert. Grossman also said the Orcas had a few late scoring chances, but those rendered unsuccessful, as well.

Despite surrendering five goals, Grossman said he was pleased with performances turned in by goalkeeper Carlos Alvarez and defender Zolton Rockwell.

Whatcom's next match is against Edmonds Community College 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 8, on ECC's campus.
