Coryn Bajema recorded a hat trick and Lynden Christian used a good team effort to win at Friday Harbor 3-0 on Saturday, Sept. 24.
"Friday Harbor battled incredibly hard," Lyncs coach Brent DeRuyter said in a phone interview. "I think at the end of the day, when Coryn got that third goal and we won a lot of possessions in the second half, it took a lot of wind out of their sails. But they made us work incredibly hard."
Bajema got her first goal three minutes in off an assist from Livi Vander Griend and added her second 16 minutes later off an assist from Shelby Brown. Her third came in the 42nd minute with help from Jessa Vanderpol.
"All three were laser beams," DeRuyter said. "Their keeper really had no chance. One came in traffic, and the keeper didn't even have a chance to react. Coyrn shot the ball really well today. She spread it around, too, but we couldn't quite finish. We got a number of great opportunities, because they collapsed down on (Bajema). Once we figure out how to finish on those chances, we're going to spread things out and be more diverse."
Bajema recorded three or more goals in a game for the third time this season and now has 18 in seven games.
LC (6-0-1) next travels to Burlington-Edison for a 6 p.m. game on Tuesday, Sept. 27.
