Whatcom Transportation Authority's board decided not to spend money to film and broadcast its meetings on BTV10.
The board on Thursday, Sept. 15, voted 5-2 to reject the proposal. Board members in opposition were Jim Ackerman, Paul Greenough, Mel Hansen, Bill Knutzen and Scott Korthuis. Those in favor were Dan Pike and Jack Weiss. Two board members, Pete Kremen and Stan Snapp, were absent.
Staff had estimated that it would cost, after an initial expense of $97, between $3,462 and $4,677 per year to film the meetings in Bellingham City Council Chambers and broadcast them on BTV10. Exact costs would have depended on the length of the meetings.
The full board currently holds 8 a.m. meetings in County Council Chambers.
