Photographers whose works are part of this year’s Tacoma Mountaineers photo exhibit will be honored at a reception Thursday.

The exhibit features 42 images, the work of 10 area photographers.

Images include a view of Mount Rainier from Tipsoo Lake, the Japanese Garden in Seattle, a rainy scene under the L train in Chicago, a golf course in Anchorage, Alaska, and the area near Cape Alava.

This is the ninth year the outdoor group has held an exhibition, said Joe Becker, chairman of the Tacoma Mountaineers photo group.

“The purpose of the exhibition is to show the Mountaineers’ love of the outdoors, show that the club has activities beyond it’s traditional climbing and hiking,” Becker said. “It’s also provides an outlet for Mountaineer photographers to display their work, and helps us recruit new members to the local Mountaineers photo group.”

The photo group meets the second Tuesday of each month, except October, at the Mountaineers clubhouse at 2302 N. 30th St., Tacoma.

Thursday’s reception will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Tahoma Center Gallery, 1323 Yakima Ave., Tacoma. Food and beverages will be served.

The exhibit is on display through Oct. 31.

The gallery is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
