McAllister Creek is open to salmon retention through Nov. 30. The open stretch is from the mouth upstream to Steilacoom Road Bridge.

The fishery was approved earlier this spring but was inadvertently omitted from the sportfishing rules pamphlet.

The daily limit on the Thurston County creek is six salmon. Up to two adults may be retained. Selective gear rules will be in effect, except that bait is allowed.

RIVERS

Green: The action in the lower river has been mixed, but people are catching coho and pinks.

Nisqually: Anglers are catching a mix of pinks and coho; the action has been varied from day to day.

Puyallup: The action seems to have slowed down some, but that could be a matter of perspective. Anglers are still catching their limits of pinks, as well as some chinook and coho.

Skokomish: People are still catching chinook, but many of them are dark. Some coho are starting to come into the river.

LAKES

Alder: The kokanee bite seems to be back on. One angler said online that he was running his lure about 20 feet down in water 40 feet deep.

Munn: The trout fishing has been very slow because of warm water. Fish early in the morning or late in the evening for bass and panfish.

Offut: The best action has been before 8:30 a.m. each day. People are catching limits of trout using rainbow Power Bait fished off the bottom on a 3-foot leader.

Spanaway: The lake will be closed to the public today and Sunday for hydroplane races.

SALTWATER

Fly-fishing: Coho are starting to show up. In the next two weeks expect good numbers of coho showing up in Hood Canal and north of Gig Harbor, said a staffer at Gig Harbor Fly Shop.

North Sound: The number of pinks seems to be dwindling while the coho are on the rise. The best action as of late seems to be throughout Marine Area 9.

South Sound: The waters off Anderson Island are producing good catches of pink salmon. Around Tacoma, the fishing has been slow in the past couple of days. Trolling around Commencement Bay might be the best bet.
