Kudos to Eddie Poplawski, Bellingham Bells' new owner, for investing in our community and especially our children. The Bells have gone through some rocky years even with the generous support of the community and previous sweat and labor of love investment by Tony Larson. Eddie, his wife, Kim, a dedicated staff, great young ballplayers from schools throughout the U.S., and the great local coaching trio of Hatch, Clem and Calkins, all breathed new life into this Bellingham institution. Thank you to all who attended the home games at Joe Martin Field; the kids who chased foul balls, the cheering fans in the grandstands, the teenagers who came out for an evening with their friends, and the families who picnicked on the hill. So many things define community and I thank all of you who read this for your support for this slice of life that makes Bellingham a great place to live. Thank you again, Eddie, and I look forward to seeing even more of you at games next year, in late June, for the 2012 season.
