I believe we have a truth-in-labeling problem here in Bellingham with "greenways" property tax levies. First, Greenways II funds were used to remodel civic field, and now Greenways III funds will be used for a pocket park for Edgemoor. To review the basics: "greenways" are trails, string-shaped parcels that connect things. Not like Chuckanut Ridge.
Given that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior, voters might want to keep in mind this pattern of using "greenways" property taxes as a civic slush fund when we are inevitably presented with a Greenways IV proposal.
