Erika Locker, a senior guard at Ferndale, has signed a letter of intent to play women's basketball for Whatcom Community College, according to the Northwest Athletic Association of Community College website.
Locker was second on the team and fifth in the Northwest Conference, averaging 14.2 points per game for the Golden Eagles last season. She also average seven rebounds, four steals and three assists and was selected first-team all-NWC by the league's coaches.
The Orcas' men's team also signed former Squalicum boys' guard Derek Dickerson, according to the website.
Dickerson spent his freshman season playing for Western Washington, last winter, where he played 27 games and made four starts. He averaged 5.7 points per game.
At Whatcom, Dickerson once again could get to play with former Storm teammate Patrick Voeut, who played for the Orcas as a freshman last year.
LYNDEN GIRLS' BASKETBALL CAMP
The Lynden girls' basketball team will hosts its summer youth camp on June 21-23.
The camp is for girls that will be entering grades fourth through eighth and will offer instruction by coach Rob Adams and his players and staff focusing on basketball skill and development and team-building principles. The camp will run from 1-3 p.m. at Lynden High School and will have games daily.
The camp costs $50 per athlete, and includes a camp shirt and basketball. Pre-registration is requested by June 14 to insure correct T-shirt size. For more information, please contact Adams at radams@webmail.blainesd.org.
FERNDALE BOYS' CAMP
The Ferndale boys' basketball team will host its summer camp on July 18-20.
The camp is for boys entering fifth through eighth grades and will be taught by the Golden Eagles players and coaching staff. It will run from 9-11:30 a.m. daily.
