Gingerbread Boys

Jo Skinner of Blaine says she got this recipe about 35 years ago and it has been her family's favorite around the holidays ever since.

GINGERBREAD BOYS

Ingredients

1/3 cup shortening

1 cup brown sugar packed

11/2 cups molasses

2/3 cup cold water

2 teaspoon soda

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon allspice

1 teaspoon ginger

1 teaspoon cloves

1 teaspoon cinnamon

7 cups flour

Directions

Mix shortening, sugar and molasses.

Stir in water.

Add blend of spices and flour, chill.

Roll dough 1/4-inch thick on lightly floured board.

Cut with cookie cutter, place on greased baking sheet.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until no imprint remains when lightly touched.

Decorate with favorite icing.
