  BELLINGHAM - A 22-year-old man was arrested for an alleged hate crime against a lesbian couple early Sunday, Dec. 11, after he yelled slurs at them and smashed in the window of a victim's car, but was then pinned to the ground by one of the victims, police said.

  William Adam Lane confronted the couple outside a bar early Sunday in the 200 block of Chestnut Avenue when he saw them embracing, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young.

  Lane made profane, derogatory comments about the couple's sexuality, but the women "expressed no interest in having a conversation," Young said.

  A couple of youth football championships were won by Ferndale squads recently.

  The Ferndale Juniors Football Youth Football Team won the 2011 North Cascades League Mountain Division Championship. The team when it defeated the Oak Harbor Jaguars 12-6 on a 45-yard touchdown pass on the final play of the game

  The team finished the year 9-1 with their only loss against the Jaguars in week 1 of the season. The team is coached by Kirk Juneau, Michael Hunt, Chad Cristelli and JP Saenz. Team members include:

  BELLINGHAM - A man and a woman were arrested for burglary Monday morning, Sept. 19, after the victim saw a 23-year-old woman carrying her purse and wearing her clothes, which had been stolen from her apartment a block away, police said.

  The victim, a 20-year-old Bellingham woman, had moved into an apartment in the 3300 block of Northwest Avenue over the course of several days, said Bellingham police spokesman Mark Young.

  While she was gone, Adam Christopher Point, 22, and Ciera Joi Page, 23, allegedly broke into the apartment through a screen window that may have been left slightly open, Young said.

  2 Pasco men arrested after marijuana found

  Two Pasco men were jailed during the weekend after allegedly being caught with half a pound of marijuana.

  Pasco officers were looking Friday afternoon for Lawrence Adams, 26, of Pasco, at a home at 1911 W. Jay St. because there were several warrants for his arrest.

  Adams wouldn't voluntarily give himself up to police, but officers managed to get a search warrant after smelling marijuana inside the home, said Capt. Jim Raymond.
