Sophomore midfielder Tyler Bjork scored in overtime to give the Western Washington men's soccer team a 4-3 win over Northwest Nazarene University in a great Northwest Athletic Conference match-up on Saturday, Oct. 17 in Nampa, Idaho.
Bjork's goal came in the game's 107th minute off a cross from Oscar Jimenez, who finished with a goal and two assists on the day, and improved the Vikings' record to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in league play.
The win also moved Western coach Travis Connell to within one victory of 100 wins during his 11 years at the Vikings' helm.
"It was great to get a win in overtime," Connell said. "We had a lot of chances and we deserved the victory."
Also adding goals were Brendan Quilici and Kellan Brown, who scored off a corner kick cross from Jimenez. Jimenez then scored in the game's 74th minute to put the Vikings up 3-2.
The Vikings next travel to play Cal State Dominguez Hills on Wednesday and Cal State L.A. on Friday in a pair of non-conference contests.
