  The Northwest Agriculture Business Center was awarded a second round of $225,000 in grant funding to support the development of agricultural-related cooperatives throughout the Puget Sound region.

  In 2011, the center supported the formation of the Nooksack Valley Farmers Cooperative and the North Cascades Meat Producers Cooperative, two marketing cooperatives owned by Skagit and Whatcom County farms.

  A 2010 Nissan Versa hit a power pole after colliding with another car at the intersection of 19th Avenue and Highway 395 in Kennewick about 9 a.m. this morning.

  Kelli Cooper, 46, of Kennewick, was stopped at a red light, heading west on 19th.

  Witnesses report Cooper was allegedly distracted by a cell phone when she pulled out into the intersection when she was hit by a southbound 2010 Honda Civic driven by Robert Taber, 53, of Pasco, said Washington State Patrol Trooper Brian Bond.

  A popular Southridge High teacher died unexpectedly Tuesday morning.

  Henry Lee, 48, was found dead in his bed. Officers were called at 6:40 a.m. to a report of an unresponsive man at a Newport Street home, said Mike Blatman, Kennewick police spokesman.

  Lee was a chemistry and health occupation teacher for the past two years at Southridge, said Lorraine Cooper, Kennewick School District spokeswoman.
