  A 19-year-old man is accused of damaging a Benton City ATM and prying open a bank door shortly after finding that his account was in the red.

  Isaac N. Griffiths pleaded innocent Wednesday in Benton County Superior Court to second-degree burglary, second-degree malicious mischief and second-degree attempted burglary.

  His trial is scheduled for Jan. 30.

  Bellingham church concert raises funds for homeless

  More than 400 people raised more than $8,000 for Interfaith Coalition and Northwest Youth Services at a July 31 benefit concert at First Congregational Church of Bellingham, according to Margie Kimberley.

  Visiting pianist Harry Huff, minister of music from Old South Congregational Church in Boston, and Kent French, singer and lead pastor of First Congregational Church of Bellingham, presented An Evening of Song, featuring music from composers ranging from Duke Ellington to George Gershwin to Billy Joel.

  Donations will help provide housing and support for local homeless families and teens. Riannon Bardsley, executive director, says Northwest Youth Services will use the funds to assist with its Positive Adolescent Development Project. The capital campaign will renovate the upstairs of the 1020 N. State St. building to provide emergency housing and drop-in services to runaway and homeless youths aged 13-17. Young people will have access to laundry facilities, showers, food, and shelter once the project is

  Cement truck rolls after blowing tire near Dayton

  A blown tire caused a cement truck to roll over Monday, snarling traffic about 15 miles north of Dayton on Highway 12.

  The Washington State Patrol reported Nathan L. Griffith, 47, of Walla Walla, was driving a 2006 Kenworth cement truck westbound on Highway 12 when the left front tire blew out at 9:40 a.m.

  The truck rolled over and ended up in the ditch of the eastbound lane.
