Fawn Macaras and Casey Morgan announce their engagement and plans for an October 17 wedding in Lynden.

Fawn is the daughter of Loren and Shannon Macaras of Maple Falls. She is a graduate of Squalicum High School and Whatcom Community College. She is self employed through her business, Office Help Center.

Casey is the son of Howard and Sue Morgan of Bellingham. He is a graduate of Meridian High School and is employed at BP Cherry Point Refinery.

The couple met through mutual friends. The proposal took place Christmas 2008 which was also the groom's 30th birthday. They're planning a honeymoon trip to Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, Bahamas.

It happened again today. A fawn was struck by a car on Cable Street. This area, long a known deer crossing, has become a slaughterhouse row. Although some of these encounters can't be avoided, folks who drive this route every day should know by now to keep an eagle eye out.

MOXEE -- Noya Deats' routine walk along the Roza Canal turned disastrous when her two dogs, Fawn and Nia, decided to take a swim.

Despite signs warning folks to stay out of the canal, she said she has let her dogs off their leash before without any problems.

But once in the water, neither dog could get out because of the swift current. Unsure what to do, Deats ran alongside the canal to keep up with them while she called her husband, Matt, and the police.
