Mack McGillivray was born in Bellingham on September 23, 1909. He lived at Silver Beach for 94 of his 100 years. At 14, he went to work at Jern's shingle mill located where Alabama and North Shore now intersect. When the mills closed, Mack went to the Bellingham Park Department where he worked until retirement in 1972. Mack is celebrating his birthday with his daughter, Judy Blue of Green Valley, AZ, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He still enjoys a good steak, See's chocolate, Mariner games and Desperate Housewives. Most of all, he appreciates visitors at the Woodway Inn on E. Maplewood.
