Voting by mail has changed the timeline for when voters need information and the Web has changed how they will get that information. To provide additional timely campaign information, The Bellingham Herald invited candidates for Whatcom County Council, Bellingham City Council and Port Commission to blog on our Web site this election season.

Several candidates have agreed and Port Commission District 1 candidate Ham Hayes is the first to begin posting to one of our blogs. Here's the link to his blog. As more candidates begin to update their blogs, you'll find links to them from our blog page and from the blog list in the middle of the home page. They'll also be posted to our elections page when it opens.

Comments will be allowed on the blogs, but candidates will control what is posted.
