  John and Norma (née Rogers) were married November 28, 1961 in White Rock, BC, in the church where they first met. Shortly after their marriage they moved to Brooks, Oregon, where they purchased a farm and began raising boysenberries and babies. Their first daughter, Ruth (Yates), was born a few years later, followed within two years by Susan (Kester). John and Norma moved north to Ferndale, Washington: a third daughter, Karyn (Crosbie) and a son, Philip, soon joined the family. The whole family has always been very active in their churches, and Norma has worked for many years with the Child Evangelism Fellowship. Until recently, John and Norma operated a very popular blueberry farm: today they maintain a peach orchard and enjoy their six grandchildren, Renee, Rachel, Drew, Jack, Laura, and Rosie.

  Susie and Steve McIvor celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 20th. They were married in Bellingham, at the home of the bride. They have three daughters Teri (Bo) Westford, Marcy (Dale) McIvor-Rauch and Kellie (Gregg) Eiswald. They love spending time with their grandchildren and enjoy weekends together at classic car shows. We love you mom and dad.

  John and Celine Zender are celebrating their 60 years of marriage on November 17th with their six children, attending Holy Mass at St. Peters at Deming and a brunch following. Their children are Dori and Ron Maa, Pat and Pauline Zender, Dale and Carmen Zender, Diane and Jim Mallahan, Perry and Karen Zender and Don and Linda Zender. They have 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren joining in the celebration.

  The Washington state Legislature is on the verge of having enough support to approve gay marriage, with votes continuing to realign in the state Senate, according to a tally by The Associated Press.

  The AP has reached out to all 49 state senators over the past week and found that more lawmakers are firmly supporting gay marriage than opposing it, by a margin of 21-18. The measure needs 25 votes to pass the Senate.

  Five other Democrats say they are considering whether to support it, including two who are leaning in favor. A pair of Republicans is among those supporting the proposal, and two first-term GOP members said they were discussing the issue with constituents.
