The littler twin of shallow weed-lined Clear Lake, Beaver Lake is often overlooked by angling nomads who can't see it from the highway and don't know it's there.

Season: Year-round.

Angler amenities: Because of its mixed fish stock leanings, Beaver is at its best during long hot summer days.

Surface area: 73 acres.

In the catch: Largemouth bass, yellow perch, crappie and the occasional cutthroat.

Stocking for 2008: None.

Special rules: None, statewide season, size and bag limits apply.

Boat launch: WDFW – gravel, on Beaver Lake Road.

Getting there: Take Cook Road east to Sedro-Woolley, then drive south across the Skagit River on Highway 9 to the town of Clear Lake. As you are leaving the south side of town, turn left on Beaver Lake Road and drive about a mile to the launch.
