OVERVIEW
Cornwall Park neighborhood is best known for the large, forested park that contains a playground, spray water park, horseshoe pits and disc golf course. Parkview Elementary School nudges next to the park. Surrounding the park are a variety of homes on comfortable lots.
Homes also line Meridian Street south to West Illinois Street, where businesses reach south to the Fountain District shopping area.
The southeast corner of the neighborhood features Broadway Park, the large, older homes that border it, and historic Roeder Home, now owned by Bellinghams parks department and used for weddings, recitals and craft events.
St. Joseph Hospital occupies the eastern edge of the neighborhood.
HISTORY
The roots of St. Joseph Hospital reach back to the early 1890s, when church and civic leaders asked the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace for help establishing a hospital.
In 1891, two sisters traveled across the country to Fairhaven to start the first hospital on Bellingham Bay. It had 30 beds.

QUOTE
The proximity to the hospitals and other medical services is nice. We can walk to our dentist and I can walk to my doctors office.
