OVERVIEW
Alabama Hill neighborhood offers multiple views and milieus, with pleasant results in all directions.
On the west side, residents gaze upon Bellingham Bay and the islands beyond; on the east side, residents see Bloedel Donovan Park and the north end of Lake Whatcom. On the northern half of the neighborhood, sidewalk-lined streets wind along the crest of the hill. The southern half feels more casual with older houses.
The popular Railroad Trail splits the neighborhood north-to-south, while small St. Clair Park and gigantic Whatcom Falls Park buffer the southern boundary.
HISTORY
St. Clair Park, in the south end of Alabama Hill neighborhood, opened in 1973, was renovated about 1987, and got a new playground in 2004. The new playground is more visible from the street, providing greater safety.
