Betty Lu Wheeler was born March 15, 1925 in Laverne, OK. Her parents, Arlie and Lulu Wheeler worked very hard on the family farm where Betty Lu and her 6 siblings, C.A., Bernice, Guenda, Fritz, Bonnie and Ruby were raised. In 1942 Betty Lu married Chester Shepherd and lived in Laverne until 1946 when they moved to Madras, OR, then to Whatcom County in 1998. She worked very hard as a homemaker and was very active in the Republican Party, volunteering and the Methodist Church. She sang in the choir and taught Sunday school.
Betty Lu enjoyed yardwork, cooking and music. She is survived by her children, Tony (Linda) Shepherd of Madras, OR, Terry (Sylvia) Shepherd of Culver, OR, Renee (Terry) Dawn of Bellingham, WA, Randy (Rosie) Shepherd of Eugene, OR; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
