Older obituaries may be available in the paid archive accessed by clicking HERE.

Obituaries policy

Obituaries are published seven days a week in The Bellingham Herald. Very basic obituary information is included at no charge the first day. A prepayment fee applies to obituaries that include additional information, photos, and/or art elements. All notices are subject to verification which must be made prior to publication.

Obituaries will also appear online. All submissions become the property of the Bellingham Herald.

When placing an obituary you must include your name, address and phone number. Call (360) 756-2829, fax (360) 756-2891 or email obits@bellinghamherald.com between the hours of 8 a.m and noon and 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. Saturday. Closed Sunday. Not open for walk-in customers on weekends and holidays.

Obituaries submitted during business hours to the classified advertising department will publish when requested.

Marilyn Meeker (Preston, Anderson, Welling)


Blaine, Washington, resident Marilyn Meeker died on Wednesday, May 2, 2007. She was 82 years old.

At her request no funeral services were held, but her ashes will be interred in her mother's plot at Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton, Wyoming.

Marilyn was born on Oct. 1, 1924 in Casper, Wyoming, the daughter of Vance L. Preston and Mary Posey (Bishop) Preston. Marilyn attended Riverton, Wyoming schools and graduated from Riverton High School with the Class of 1942.

After graduation she married Floyd C. Anderson. They were divorced in 1973 and she married Don Welling.

After Don's death in 1978 she married Charles Meeker, who survives her.

Marilyn spent most of her adult life in Washington State, but loved travelling around the U.S. and Canada in an RV. Her hobby was music; she loved playing the piano and singing.

Marilyn Meeker is survived by three children, Janice Wagner of Auburn, Washington, Steven Anderson of Cypress, California, and Kathie Divers of Snoqualmie, Washington; 6 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She is preceded in death by her parents, two husbands and her brother.
