"Coastal drilling takes heavy toll on nature" - that's what the headline on your Monday, Oct. 6 story about oil damage in the Gulf Coast should have read.
At this time, when we are considering creating more oil wells in coastal waters, it is the media's responsibility to point out environmental issues related to drilling.
In this case, it wasn't nature in the form of a hurricane that caused the oil spills, as your headline implied. The presence of ill-advised oil operations in a hurricane-prone coastal area was the real culprit.
