For all voters who are still undecided on whether to vote for Barack Obama or John McCain, consider these two words: Supreme Court. The face of the nation's highest court could change radically in either direction depending on who is elected.

I believe a McCain-Palin administration is likely to follow the Bush strategy of appointing ultra right-wing justices to the Supreme Court in an attempt to overthrow Roe vs. Wade, promote abstinence-only sex education, and suppress gay rights.

Also at stake is the environment. Last summer the Supreme Court ruled to let Exxon-Mobile off the hook for fines it still hasn't paid for the Exxon-Valdez oil spill which occurred in 1989.

Remember, these supreme court appointments are for life; once a supreme court justice is appointed, he or she is there indefinitely.

So if you value such things as women's reproductive rights, real sex-education in schools, stem-cell research, sound environmental policies, rights to privacy, and numerous other issues that support a healthy democracy, vote for the candidate who will appoint progressive justices to the Supreme Court. Vote for Barack Obama.
