I have just finished watching the Presidential Debate on TV. I was surprised that the opinion polls favored Barack Obama. I am, and have been, a middle-class citizen of these United States for 60 years. I worried through the Vietnam War. I paid my way through college. I read Eldridge Cleavers' "Soul On Ice." And I have struggled ever since to be able to retire and it is still something that I will have to struggle with.

For the second time in my life I saw an American presidential candidate tell me to get off of my behind. He said government is not going to help me, that if I want to achieve success, I had better get involved.

Ladies and gentlemen, John McCain is giving us an opportunity to change America. You baby boomers and ex-hippies that enjoyed all the freedoms of the 1960s had better get with it if your want your grandchildren to experience the same freedoms in the 21st Century.

John Kennedy said "Ask not what your country can do for you ask what you can do for your country," and so does John McCain.
