Well it has happened again, the rounders versus the straight liners.
Traffic circles will only work in low traffic areas, unless you consider London where they are very large. The one at the community college is a nightmare and should be avoided if possible.
I believe anytime you have a constant flow of cars from five directions trying to merge then the circle would have to cover five acres, and then it would need to be two lanes wide.
Just like Interstate 5 in Seattle, merging is not an easy thing. On Highway 101 in Oregon we watched two highways merge, we were there for an hour.
To drive around a five-acre lot so you can avoid a left turn seems a little drastic, and then where would you put it? Let's think a little harder before we make a mistake that can not be changed, like maybe removing a few cars from the streets.
