How about a little grace time on meters?

Is there no grace in this town? Do meter attendants consider that those of us who bring business to town and do feed the meters may need an extra couple of minutes sometimes, because things don't always run on time? I recently fed my meter for an hour and 10 minutes, giving myself extra time for a class. The class ran over and I raced back to my meter, figuring I'd be fine, only 6 minutes late. There was a ticket.

Where's the grace? Where is the understanding on the part of this city, that well meaning people bring dollars to local businesses and occasionally need/deserve a break? It's understandable if someone lets a meter run out by significant time, but does a few minutes warrant a $10 ticket? Too many of the meters are only an hour and many don't feel comfortable in a dark, isolated parking garage.

If there's no consideration of these issues for residents, then the city should be more responsible for meters that prematurely run out and work to put in more two-hour meters.
